SOMMER is a certified SBE/DBE/WBE firm specializing in servicing the transportation market within southern California. SOMMER was established in 2020 by Merideth Cann, P.E. to apply over 30 years’ experience in the transportation industry in design, planning and project management with a focus on serving local Transportation Agencies with Highway, Rail and Bridge Design. SOMMER is headquartered in Newport Beach, CA. Our services include civil design for parking, EV infrastructure, highway corridors, managed lanes, alternative delivery, rail, transit, grade separations, highway interchanges, and the design of bridges and retaining structures. Some of our clients served are Los Angeles Metro, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), Caltrans District 7, 8, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) as well as Local Agencies, such as the City of Lake Elsinore and City of Temecula. SOMMER has delivered on a variety of transportation related projects including alternative deliveries.

Merideth Cann, P.E.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, she has focused on managing and delivering complex transportation relate d projects, serving as Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, and Project Engineer, providing a wide and divers e perspective with half of her career focused on design and half on planning. As Project Manager, she delivered the M id County Parkway (MCP) Transportation Corridor PA/ED project, a 16-mile new freeway with a construction value of $1.6 billion. Most recently, Merideth served as the Civil Project Manager for LAWA’s CTA Smart Park. Merideth coordinated with the contractor and the LINX project team. Merideth worked with ABM to utilize a robot to stripe the garages reducing the closures of the garages during construction.
