Subconsultant for the design of parking lot ingress/egress, islands for revised entrance and exits, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, coordination with contractors, constructability review, and staging for continual parking revenue stream. The parking lot design and modifications are being performed without closing the parking structures. Infrastructure design for over 700 EV Charging Stations throughout the seven existing parking garages. Coordinated closely with the CTA contractors and the APM design and construction teams to coordinate CTA design and construction with the automated people mover, three stations, and intermodal transportation facilities. Coordinated construction permits through the City of LADBS and LA DOT.
Final PSE and Construction Support Services for the City of Lake Elsinore’s I-15 / Main Street Interchange Modification Project, as well as bid support services. The city, in partnership with Caltrans D8, is preparing to construct improvements to Main Street at Interstate 15 from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, provide ramp metering, improvements to both Northbound on and off ramps, Southbound off ramp widening at the intersection, and installation of traffic signals at the ramp and intersections of Camino Del Norte and Main Street. Sommer completed the RTL documents, and the project is currently under construction. Sommer has met numerous times in the field to work with the contractor regarding change in field conditions.
Subconsultant for a three-year operations project to reduce severe recurrent congestion along the I-15 corrider near the Winchester Road Interchange. Provided Design Engineering Evaluation Report (DEER) documentation and obtained Caltrans District 8 approvals for the required Design Standard Decision Documents (DSDD), Plans, Specifications, and estimate (PS&E) for the pilot project and associated interchange modifications at the Northbound I-15/Temecula Parkway Interchange and I-15/Rancho California Road Interchange. The first of its kind in California, this innovative pilot project features the installation of a coordinated adaptive ramp metering system (CARM), ITS Infrastructure, provision of hardware and software, construction management, system integration work,in-person and/or remote setup, and operation of the STREAMS® traffic management and performance monitoring and reporting for a three-year demonstration period. The project includes environmental clearance, preparation of a project approval document, design of civil improvements, and all ITS elements through final design and construction.
